About Jenessa

 
 

Jenessa is a fourth year undergraduate at the University of Alberta, Augustana campus. She majors in psychology and was a member of the women's basketball team at Augustana
throughout her 4 years. She is moving onto graduate studies at the University of Lethbridge where she will be doing a Master of Science thesis program. Her thesis project will be based on her research interests of children's development. More specifically, her project will target social skill and language development in children with fetal alcohol spectrum disorders (FASD).

Jenessa has some research background in farmer mental health, and is second author in a recently published review article titled “Understanding the factors contributing to farmer suicide:
a meta-synthesis of qualitative research” in the Journal of Rural and Remote Health. She also took on an independent research study this year investigating seizure incidence after intracerebral hemorrhage in female rats. There is hope that this study will also be published in the near future. In terms of a career later on she has aspirations of becoming a psychologist and working with children around the adolescent ages.
