I am not sure if you are a good fit for what I need.  Should I contact you anyways?

Navigating the mental health world is confusing! If you feel in need of support but are unsure if services provided through the Centre for Restorative Mental Health are a fit for you, please feel free to contact us anyways. It is our ethical duty to accept only those clients who present with issues within our range of competencies. Therefore, if we decide we are not quite a fit, you will be referred to another service provider.

What is the process to get therapy started?

Prior to the first session, you will be offered a free 10-minute phone consultation to assess for fit. If both parties decide to proceed with booking a first session, you will be sent an email which includes intake paperwork, directions to the office, and instructions for payments. You will be asked to complete intake paperwork prior to the first session.

What can I expect in my first session?

In the first session, the informed consent form will be reviewed giving special attention to confidentiality and its limits. You are invited to ask any questions you may have. Then, the majority of the first session is spent getting a sense of who you are and why you are seeking therapy at this time. At the end of the first session, we typically discuss therapy goals.

What forms of payment do you accept?

Forms of payment we currently accept include cash, cheque, and e-transfer.

How can I claim my session fees through insurance?

After the end of a session, you will receive an invoice. Once payment is received, a receipt will be sent to you via email. This receipt includes the psychologist’s name, registration number, phone number, and address and can be submitted to your insurance company for reimbursement.

Can you prescribe medications if I need them?

Psychologists are not trained in the prescribing of medications. If you are interested in medication for mental health treatment, your family physician is able to prescribe directly, and in cases, will refer you to a psychiatrist for a more thorough assessment and prescription.

What is the cost of service?

Fees are consistent with the recommended fee schedule for registered psychologists as set by the Psychologists’ Association of Alberta. Please click here to view the fee schedule. A sliding scale is available for those in need of a reduced fee.

It is not possible for me to get to your office. Can we connect online?

Online services are offered to those clients who are in remote locations, unable to access the office, or those who simply prefer to meet from their own home. When connecting online, we use a secure video conferencing platform such as Zoom or Doxy rather than FaceTime or Skype so we have a secure, encrypted connection to protect your privacy
